Get this- When Kigns of Leon denied Glee permission to use their song "Use Somebody" on the show, Glee's creator Ryan Murphy said:
"F— you, Kings of Leon,” he said. "They're self-centered a-—s, and they missed the big picture. They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument."
Drummer Nathan Followill then suggested that Murphy "let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra."
Don't worry, they have reconciled. Murphy admitted he overreacted and the band has forgiven him. And all is right with the world.
Oh, celebrydom. Prince Wililam is set to marry finacee Kate Middleton in 11 days, and the whole world is watching. It's almost sad to me that a day that should be so special, spent with family and friends, will be a huge media show. But, I guess that's the price of fame!
Anyway, I had to chuckle when I discovered that Lifetime had already made a movie about the pair! The girl who played Kate said playing her "depressed" her. Hmmm. Wonder why. Check it out-- It's set to premiere April 18 at 9 p.m. EST and PST.
For more info. on the pair's upcoming nuptuals, check out People's "A Royal Wedding" page!
This Saturady I had the opportunity to join with other Pepperdine students and cram into the Sandbar on Saturday night to hear from talented musicians, made up primarily graduating seniors, with a few underclassmen in the mix. As always, I was amazed by the talent these students posess! It was such a great show and a perfect way to go out with a bang, assuming that it will possibly be my last Pepperdine Coffee Hosue.. ever. Wow! Sad to think about.
Anyway, the music was great, and there wasn't a dull moment! I had a personal favorite: When Zach Garrett and Mark Langer performed some of the songs we grew up to (everything from the Spice Girls to the Friends show song).
Great times, great music, great friends. I'm really going to miss this place...
A second mountain lion was spotted on Pepperdine's campus near the dorms. Oh, my! While some may be shocked/worried to hear about these sitings, one must remember that Pepperdine is set in the Santa Monica Mountains, the home of many mountain lions.
Check out this e-mail from DPS:
Campus Safety Advisory from the Department of Public Safety
At 7:10 this morning, a student reported a second mountain lion sighting in the undergraduate living area. The Department of Public Safety notified National Park Service experts about this most recent sighting.
As a reminder, mountain lions roam the Santa Monica mountain range and are occasionally observed on campus. According to the California State Parks website, if you encounter one, remain calm, do not approach the animal, and do not run because this could trigger the lion’s predatory instinct.
Please report any sightings immediately to Public Safety by dialing 310.506.4441 or by activating a campus emergency blue light phone. Also, for more detailed information regarding mountain lions, please see the California State Park’s website at http://www.parks.ca.gov/.
Thank you in advance for your attentiveness to this matter. "
So... be careful, folks!
Talk about bad press-- GoDaddy CEO Bob Parsons, the man behind GoDaddy's Super Bowl commercialas featuring the scantily clad "GoDaddy Girls," recently posted a video of his trip to an African village, where he hunted and killed an elephant (see photo). The video is quite graphic (find it and watch it at your own risk); it depicts hungry villagers tearing apart the dead elephant's flesh. Naturally, they did so while wearing bright orange GoDaddy baseball caps thanks to Parsons... Oh, and Parsons found it appropriate to play AC/DC's "Hells Bells" as background music.
I don't know about you, but something seems wrong with this to me. Although Parsons defends his actions, saying the elephant was destroying the villagers' crops (a valid concern), there are many other non-violent methods to handle the situation, according to the World Wildlife Fund.
The video has gone viral, which has caused quite an outrage, especially among animal lovers. and Parson is paying for his decision to post the video because a GoDaddy competitor, Namecheap, promoted a special transfer deal (to move an account form GoDaddy to their site). On top of tht, they committed to donating 20% from the transfers to Save the Elephants.
I'm keeping Japan in my prayers as they deal with the aftermath of a tragic 8.9 earthquake and tsunami. I am hoping and praying that the family and friends of Pepperdine Japenese students are safe from harms way.
As if the California school system did not have enough budget problems... According to the LA Times, State Controller John Chiang said redevelopment agencies "ilegally shortchanged" schools, forcing the state to make up the money. Seriously? Redevelopment agencies STOLE $40 million from schools in California.
This review of development agnecies comes at a crucial time when the Legislature is about to vote on Gov. Jerry Brown's proposal to eliminate municipal redevelopment agencies as part of his budget plan. Chiang said in a statement that "the lack of accountability and transparency is a breeding ground for waste, abuse and impropriety."
Hopefully, flaws in the system can be corrected so that schools and citizens as a whole will receive the funding they deserve.

I had no idea that hazelnuts could cause E.coli. According to the feds, 7 cases across 3 states have linked hazelnuts to E.coli. And the FDA reports that one California company, DeFranco and Sons, has recalled their hazelnuts. So if you're a hazelnut lover, make sure you're good to go before eating your favorite snack! After all, E.coli is NOT fun. It can cause bloddy diarrhea (double EW!), dehydration and even kidney failure. People with weak immune systems, babies and seniors are the most susceptible. So... think before you eat.
Most people think slavery is a thing of the past. If only that were true...
All over the world, there are victims of human trafficking, modern-day slavery. Most people are oblivious to this destable crime against humanity. But for many, slavery is their reality. This crime spreads from the seas of Ghana (the boys pictured above were shaking after working 12-hour days) to San Fransisco Bay, where teenage girls are sex slaves in "massage parlors".
This issue, which has been somewhat ignored by mainstream media, is finally getting some coverage. CNN's Freedom Project, comrpised of articles and videos, is focused on spreading awareness in hopes of ending modern-day slavery. It's about time!
